Liverpool Football Club

You'll Never Walk Alone

The Foundation and Early Years of Liverpool FC (1892-1945)

Liverpool Football Club was founded on March 15, 1892, and has since developed into one of the most famous and successful clubs in English and international football. The origin story of Liverpool FC is closely linked to the legendary Anfield Stadium, which originally belonged to local rivals Everton. After Everton left Anfield due to a dispute with the stadium's owner, John Houlding, Houlding quickly decided to form his own football club — Liverpool Football Club. In its early years, Liverpool FC quickly dominated the local football scene and was promoted to the First Division in 1894, which at the time was the highest tier of English football. In the years leading up to the First World War, the club won two English league titles, making it clear that Liverpool would become a significant force in English football. The club rapidly became a central figure in the city of Liverpool, and the rivalry with neighboring Everton, known as the "Merseyside Derby," began to grow. However, during the 1920s and 1930s, the club's performance fluctuated, and major successes were scarce. World War II interrupted football across Europe, but Liverpool remained a symbol of pride and hope for its fans.Liverpool is known for its passionate fan support and the anthem "You'll Never Walk Alone". The club's successes are second to none, and many great players such as Steven Gerrard, Ian Rush and Mohamed Salah have made their careers here.
